Mind over Matter ~ Be still and know that I am God.

Updated: Aug 30, 2020

Logic tells us to acknowledge that our diet is IMPORTANT to our health! And following diet, exercise is important to our overall wellbeing. With that said it has become completely obvious to me that our thoughts and beliefs are of primary importance. It is the difference between a long wait for physical improvement and an instantaneous miracle. Mind over matter is how reality is created. I only recently recognized this myself. Many of us have worked hard to change our diet, make it green and clean and add movement to our daily routine only to come up short time and time again. We live with pain, pain in our bodies and mental, emotional and even spiritual pain. Sometimes our self imposed diets and exercise plans bring temporary relief until old thought and belief patterns kick in. These are patterns, often acquired in our youth, are programs running in our heads literally demanding their right to be heard. Patterns that do not serve us well. It is always Mind (thoughts and heart felt beliefs) over Matter (our physical bodies), every time.

Change your thoughts, change your beliefs, and your body will reflect the new program. The question is: How do we change that which we DON'T EVEN KNOW NEEDS FIXIN?

I am here to tell you there is a way that's been around since the beginning of time it's called meditation. I know you've heard it before. But what if you are ASSUMING you know what meditation is and what if you are wrong? I'd bet on it!

Meditation brings your body and mind into rest. Let me say that again. Meditation brings your mind and body into rest and peace. Dis -ease is literally a lack of rest. All positive emotional, spiritual and physical change happens when our bodies are 'in' a state of rest. That doesn't mean we lay around all the time, but I think you know that! 😀

I hear friends say they cannot be still enough to meditate, their minds are always racing. As a result many restless souls reject the very thing that will help them and only because they weren't successful the first couple of times.

Pearl of Wisdom: being unable to rest and relax the body starting with the mind is a little clue that you need to learn.

If you cannot still your mind and body then you need to learn how. Meditation welcomes your mind into the sacred silence during which the mind will accept new programming. The quiet, stillness puts our brain in theta wave length, the dream state, a highly suggestible state of consciousness and a new message or program can be downloaded and imprinted on our subconscious mind to do what you don't even consciously know needs to be done. Ever hear the often quoted scripture, "Be still and know that I am God."? Here is what it's saying,

~Be still (quiet your physical and mental body)
~ and know (no guess work here)
~that I am God (first hand knowing).

The question is, can you really know Him, if your mind isn't still? God seems to be found in the silence. You've read about Him, your intellect knows about Him and your spirit is one with Him but your personal experience of His presence, intimacy with God, is only found in stillness and silence.

Science tells us a state of perpetual unrest or stress, produces the hormones cortisol and adrenaline which negatively effect the biology of cells in your body. Adrenaline disappears eventually but Cortisol build up is toxic and will show up in your body eventually as dis-ease or some other unhealthy consequence.

Here is an example, let's suppose a 'Christian' lady tries meditation but her mind is all over the map and she eventually gives up. When asked why she quit she responds, "It's too hard to quiet my mind, all my to-do lists keep scrolling". That's what she says is the reason and it is the reason she is aware of. However underneath in her subconscious mind is a belief that might even be hidden from her understanding. At some point in her life she was taught that meditation is too Eastern or too new Age or a false religion. She was taught to avoid any association with meditation. She is afraid she will fall into sin or lose her faith if she were to open her mind and heart to the possibility of, what she knows as, pagan meditation. All the while she has many physical symptoms. She diets with some success and exercises too. But her peace of mind is missing, underneath the cortisol is building up. The diet and exercise helps some but since she only deals with the symptoms and not the root of the problem trouble is brewing just below the surface and will erupt with volcanic consequences.

Does this story sound familiar? Maybe you've been there, i know I was. I thought the sky would fall if I practiced yoga or meditation. I was sure God wasn't in it. I want to encourage you. God is good all the time, all the time God is good. God loves Eastern people who practice yoga, meditation and prayer differently. Jesus was an Eastern Jew.

Please try this instead, I call it the:

Be Still and Know that I am God Meditation.

  • Quiet yourself, sit comfortably ~ allow some really gentle instrumental music to play or listen to waves or rain.

  • Use Essential Oils. I suggest Frankencense or In Tune FOCUS BLEND. The oils have been used for thousands of years to raise your spiritual consciousness. Apply topically to your temples and use a diffuser throughout the meditation.

  • Observe your Breath - in and out and just do that for a couple of minutes. See if you can just put your attention on your breath. In and out.

  • In your mind, repeat the scripture,"Be Still and Know that I am God." Repeat it for a couple of minutes.

  • Transition to - 'I am still and I know God.' Say that for a few minutes. You are agreeing with God's truth. Right this minute you ARE STILL and YOU KNOW GOD.

  • Transition to a spirit of gratefulness. Feel gratefulness rise in your heart. Think of all the things you are grateful for. See yourself smiling in your minds eye. Now smile for real. 😁. The feeling is the prayer

That's all. Try repeating this during the week and see if peace doesn't flood your heart and mind. In a short time stillness during meditation will happen quickly. Dis-eases begin to disappear, disease exist during stress and cannot exist in the environment of peace. Mind over Matter.

Change your thoughts ~ Change your beliefs ~ And your body will reflect the new program ~ Mind over Matter. Use Meditation to change and renew your mind in the truth. You ARE fearfully and wonderfully made.
